The Ladymon School of Scottish Dance, founded in 2012, is a traditional Scottish Highland dance academy in Yukon, Oklahoma. Led by BATD-certified instructor Laura Ladymon, we teach competitive and recreational Scottish Highland dance to students age 4 and up.
Scottish Highland dance is a highly athletic art form rooted in traditions of Scotland. Each dance has a story behind the strong, beautiful movements, and dancers are instilled with a love of history and culture. Through these traditional dances, students improve flexibility, muscle control, stamina, and self-confidence.
The LSSD performance troupe travels throughout the state at events large and small, including the Iron Thistle Scottish Heritage Festival and Oklahoma Scotfest, and have been invited to perform with bands ranging from acoustic Celtic band Flowers of Edinburgh to world traveling Celtic rock band Celtica. Our competitive dancers travel throughout the southwest region to compete.
